Tekniska Verken Svensk Biogas CCU

Tekniska Verken, in partnership with Bright Renewables, is building Sweden’s first biogas carbon capture and utilization (CCU) facility at its Svensk Biogas plant in Linköping. The project captures biogenic CO₂ released during biogas upgrading, purifies and liquefies it on site, and supplies the recovered CO₂ for industrial and commercial use instead of venting it to the atmosphere. The facility is designed to process up to 2,500 kg of CO₂ per hour, producing approximately 20,000 tonnes per year of liquefied bioCO₂ for markets such as food and beverage, greenhouse applications, and industrial processes. Scheduled for commissioning in 2025, the project converts biogas byproduct emissions into a valuable resource while improving the overall carbon efficiency of renewable gas production.
