Turtle Lake Capture Facility

The South Chester CO₂ Treating Plant in Otsego County, Michigan, operated by Phillips 66, removes CO₂ from Antrim Shale natural gas using amine treatment. Riverside, which owns 60% of the CO₂ vent stream (~380,000 metric tons/year), is building the Turtle Lake Capture Facility to capture and compress this CO₂ for permanent storage. CO₂ will be transported via a dedicated pipeline to the Chester 21-29N-02W Storage Facility, which includes a single injection well into a depleted reef structure. Over time, this infrastructure may expand into a broader network for sequestering CO₂ from Antrim gas production. The plant is expected to operate another 10–20 years, subject to market conditions.
