Varme Energy Innisfail Waste-to-Energy

The Innisfail Waste to Energy Project, led by Varme Energy, is a proposed $200 million state-of-the-art facility planned for Innisfail’s Southwest Industrial Park. The plant will use advanced waste-to-energy technology with integrated carbon capture and storage (CCS) to process 100,000–200,000 tonnes of municipal solid waste annually, generating electricity and capturing approximately 135,000 tonnes of CO₂ per year for underground storage. The project aims to position Innisfail as a leader in clean energy innovation and landfill elimination, supporting Alberta’s and Canada’s climate and economic goals.
