Vattenfall Jordbro Carbon Capture Project

Vattenfall has paused its large-scale BECCS project at the Jordbro biomass plant, citing that the carbon capture market is not yet mature and economic conditions remain uncertain. The project, which was planned to begin operations in 2028 and capture about 150,000 metric tons of biogenic CO₂ annually for storage in the North Sea, will keep its environmental permit in place so it could resume if conditions improve.
