Vertex Bioenergy Lacq Carbon Capture Project
The Vertex Bioenergy – Lacq Carbon Capture Project in southwestern France captures biogenic CO₂ produced during the fermentation of corn into bioethanol at the Lacq facility. In partnership with Messer France, the project purifies and liquefies the CO₂ for use in industrial applications, including beverage carbonation, dry ice production, greenhouse enrichment, and pH regulation in wastewater treatment. The facility, equipped with two cryogenic storage tanks and automated recovery units, can supply approximately 130,000 tonnes of CO₂ per year.
