Wabash Valley Resources
Wabash Valley Low Carbon Ammonia Project
Wabash Valley Resources is repurposing a shuttered coal-gasification plant in West Terre Haute, Indiana into a low-carbon ammonia facility that will produce about 500,000 metric tons per year of anhydrous ammonia while capturing and permanently storing roughly 1.65 million tons of CO₂ annually in deep geologic formations under EPA Class VI permits. The project—aimed at bolstering Corn Belt fertilizer supply—reached financial close on a DOE Loan Programs Office financing (~$1.5 billion) on October 29, 2025, following a 2024 conditional commitment, and is targeting full operations in 2028. Technology and delivery partners include Honeywell for post-combustion capture (ASCC), Samsung E&A for engineering, and Baker Hughes for compression and M&V/MRV support.
