Yama Carbon DAC Pilot

Yama Carbon has commissioned France's first Direct Air Capture (DAC) pilot plant in the greater Paris area, operational since approximately July 2025 at a nameplate capture capacity of 22 tonnes of CO₂ per year and a total energy consumption of 1,250 kWh per tonne. The pilot uses Yama's proprietary electrochemical DAC technology, which drives a pH swing via bipolar electrodialysis to release captured CO₂ from a liquid sorbent rather than using thermal regeneration, an approach Yama says roughly halves the energy consumption of conventional thermal DAC. The 22 tpa pilot represents a 56x scale-up from Yama's original laboratory prototype achieved in approximately 12 months, and is the technology validation platform on the company's path to a First-of-a-Kind commercial plant targeted for 2029 in France at approximately 50,000 tonnes of CO₂ per year.
