Yara Pilbara Fertilizers Carbon Capture
Woodside Energy ‑operated Angel CCS Joint Venture and Yara Pilbara Fertilisers signed a non‑binding Memorandum of Understanding on April 5, 2024 to assess whether carbon capture and storage (CCS) could decarbonize Yara’s fertilizer operations in Western Australia’s Burrup Strategic Industrial Area. The proposal envisions developing a large-scale multi-user CCS hub near Karratha—potentially able to store up to 5 million tonnes of CO₂ per year—serving both domestic and international clients and fostering new lower-carbon industries like hydrogen, ammonia, and green steel.
