Abadi

The Abadi Carbon Storage project is integrated into the broader Abadi LNG development in Indonesia’s Masela Block, led by INPEX in partnership with Pertamina and Petronas. The revised plan of development, officially approved in late 2023, makes carbon capture and storage (CCS) a core component, aiming to neutralize all CO₂ emissions from natural gas production offshore. This makes Abadi a pioneering example of a large-scale LNG project that incorporates CCS from the outset, reflecting Indonesia’s policy shift and supporting long-term clean energy and emissions reduction goals.
