Aker Gas Injection

The Aker carbon storage project sequesters captured acid gas into the Upper Cretaceous Woodbine Formation via the Aker Gas Injection No.The Aker carbon storage project sequesters captured acid gas into the Upper Cretaceous Woodbine Formation via the Aker Gas Injection No. 1 well in Freestone County, Texas, on the western flank of the East Texas Basin. The injection interval sits between roughly 3,900 and 4,340 ft TVD and comprises three Woodbine sand packages, modeled at about 21% porosity and 300 mD permeability. Containment comes from the Eagle Ford Shale above (a thick, clay-rich, regionally continuous seal averaging over 400 ft) and the Maness Shale below, with the Buda Limestone providing secondary lower confinement. Injection has run since 2012, with capacity up to 9 MMscf/d.
