Carbon Aceh
Arun CCS
The Arun CCS Project aims to transform the depleted Arun gas field in Aceh—one of Southeast Asia’s most promising geological storage sites—into a large-scale, open-access carbon capture and storage (CCS) hub. Operators are conducting a feasibility study expected to conclude by mid-2025, laying the groundwork for operations by around 2029. With an estimated capacity to store over 1 billion metric tons of CO₂, the project has the potential to become the first commercial CCS venture in Asia, offering a central sequestration solution for multiple industrial emitters.
