Atlas Carbon Storage

Aker BP ASA, ORLEN Upstream Norway AS have been awarded carbon storage exploration license EXL011. Aker BP and Höegh Evi are maturing a CCS value chain named Project Atlas. Atlas is a flexible, innovate, scalable and cost-effective CO2 transport and storage solution. The project is included on the European Commission’s PCI/PMI list as one of only two CCS project on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, and is now eligible for CEF-Energy funding. Atlas has also been awarded the STEP Seal by the European Commission, recognition of quality and innovation aspects of the Atlas project. Subject to final investment decision, tentatively in 2027, operations are planned to begin in 2030.
