Repsol / Carbonvert / Mitsui
Aves (South)
A joint venture, operated by Repsol and including Carbonvert, Mitsui E&P USA (or MEPLCS), and POSCO International, has been awarded a lease for over 140,000 gross acres of pore space offshore of Corpus Christi, Texas. Granted by the Texas General Land Office and approved by the Texas School Land Board, the agreement covers the Port Aransas North and Mustang Island tracts. These locations fall within Repsol’s licensed seismic database and, owing to their favorable geology, are estimated to collectively support the storage of more than 600 million metric tons of CO₂.
