CapturePoint
Booker
The Booker Field Area (BFA) is a CO₂-enhanced oil recovery (EOR) and geologic sequestration project operated by CapturePoint LLC under an EPA Subpart RR monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) plan. CO₂-EOR operations began in June 2009 under Chaparral Energy LLC, with CapturePoint acquiring and operating the field since 2017. The project injects anthropogenic CO₂ through multiple Class II injection wells to enhance hydrocarbon recovery while permanently storing a portion of injected CO₂ within a carbonate reservoir system. CapturePoint intends to continue CO₂-EOR operations until the end of the economic life of the project, with injection projected to continue for approximately 12 additional years beyond the current period. The BFA has injected CO₂ for more than 12 years, with estimated cumulative CO₂ retention volumes of approximately 43 billion standard cubic feet (Bscf), equivalent to roughly 2.27 million metric tonnes (MtCO₂) from initial injection through August 2035. Monitoring uses EPA Subpart RR mass-balance accounting to track injected, produced, recycled, and permanently stored CO₂ volumes.
