Camrick

The Camrick Field Area (CFA) is a CO₂-enhanced oil recovery project operated by CapturePoint, LLC, located across Beaver and Texas Counties, Oklahoma, and Ochiltree County, Texas, in the Anadarko Basin region. The project’s primary purpose is enhanced oil recovery using miscible CO₂ injection, with retained CO₂ providing secondary geologic sequestration. The CFA was originally discovered in 1955 and consists of three unitized areas: Camrick Unit (CU) — unitized October 14, 1969 (Humble Oil Company) North Perryton Unit (NPU) — unitized March 17, 1969 (Humble Oil Company) Northwest Camrick Unit (NWCU) — unitized September 15, 1972 (Atlantic Richfield Company) Initial development involved waterflooding using produced saltwater sourced from the Wolfcamp Formation. The reservoir consists of lenticular sandstone bodies trending northwest–southeast, with an average top-of-sand depth of approximately 7,250 ft TVD. Heterogeneous bedding and lenticular geometry require pattern-based flood management. CO₂-EOR operations were initiated by Chaparral Energy LLC, beginning in March 2001 in the Camrick Unit and January 2007 in the North Perryton Unit. CapturePoint acquired and began operating the field in 2017 and continues CO₂ injection through Class II wells regulated by the Texas Railroad Commission and Oklahoma Corporation Commission. No CO₂ injection has occurred in the Northwest Camrick Unit. Injected CO₂ mobilizes residual oil through miscible displacement, with produced gas consisting of CO₂ and light hydrocarbons that are separated, recycled, and reinjected. Operations will continue until economic limits are reached.
