Central Alberta Hub

The Central Alberta Hub, proposed by Wolf Carbon Solutions Inc. in partnership with Whitecap Resources Inc., is designed to become a large-scale, open-access carbon sequestration facility located east of Red Deer. The initiative is part of Alberta’s competitive carbon hub selection, leveraging the region’s favorable geology and existing infrastructure. Through government-supported feasibility and evaluation work, the project aims to establish a safe, cost-effective storage solution capable of serving multiple industrial emitters across central Alberta and accelerating the province’s decarbonization goals. This project was one of the 19 selected in 2022 by the Government of Alberta to evaluate pore space for carbon storage, as part of the province’s initiative to advance cost-effective, open-access CO₂ sequestration hubs.
