Carbon Storage Solutions
Front Range 1-1
The Front Range Storage Complex, developed by Carbon Storage Solutions (a subsidiary of Front Range Energy), is a Class VI carbon storage project at the company’s ethanol facility in Windsor, Colorado. The project will capture about 127,800 tonnes of CO₂ per year from fermentation off-gases, liquefy it on-site, and inject it underground for permanent storage over a planned 12-year period - an expected storage total of more than 1.5 million tonnes of CO₂. CO₂ will be injected into the Lyons Formation, a porous sandstone at depth, sealed by overlying shale formations that provide strong geologic containment. The project will use the Front Range 1-1 well as the primary injector, with repurposed stratigraphic and monitoring wells.
