44.01
Fujairah Mineralization
44.01 Mineralization Projects (Carbon T OROCK & Holcim Pilot) are industrial carbon removal and permanent storage initiatives leveraging enhanced rock mineralization to turn captured CO₂ into stable, solid carbonate minerals. These projects are being advanced by 44.01 in collaboration with strategic partners, including Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Holcim, and represent leading efforts to scale carbon mineralization at industrial scale. The Carbon T OROCK project is a scaled-up follow-on from an initial pilot that demonstrated mineralization in appropriate rock substrates, with ADNOC partnering to deploy the technology at larger volume to permanently store CO₂ in underground rock formations in the United Arab Emirates. The collaboration aims to build industrial capacity for megaton-level CO₂ mineralization, integrating captured emissions into geologic mineral trapping rather than traditional saline aquifer storage. Meanwhile, the Holcim & 44.01 pilot in Fujairah, UAE focuses on capturing CO₂ emissions from Holcim’s cement operations and using 44.01’s accelerated mineralization process to convert CO₂ into solid carbonates within mined rock matrices. Both efforts emphasize permanent, leak-free storage with minimal monitoring burden once mineralization is complete, and represent scalable pathways toward carbon removal credit generation and industrial decarbonization at scale.
