Higashi-Kashiwazaki Gas Field CO2 Storage
The Higashi-Kashiwazaki Gas Field CO₂ Storage project is an INPEX-operated geological CO₂ storage demonstration at the depleted Higashi-Kashiwazaki Gas Field reservoir in the Hirai District of Kashiwazaki City, Niigata Prefecture, receiving CO₂ captured on-site from the co-located Kashiwazaki Hydrogen Park. The storage reservoir is a natural gas storage layer beneath the Hirai District where commercial gas production has already ceased, and captured CO₂ is compressed and injected directly from the surface capture facility with no offsite transport required. Subsurface injection equipment was constructed by JGC Corporation as part of the integrated EPC scope for the Kashiwazaki Hydrogen Park.
