ExxonMobil
High Island
ExxonMobil has secured a lease for over 271,000 acres in Texas state waters, marking the largest offshore carbon dioxide (CO₂) storage site in the U.S., under agreement with the Texas General Land Office . The site complements the company’s existing onshore CO₂ storage portfolio and strengthens its Gulf Coast CCS infrastructure. ExxonMobil, which operates the largest CO₂ pipeline network in the country, intends to integrate these offshore storage capabilities into its broader capture–transport–store system to further emissions reduction efforts . Notably, revenues generated from the lease will benefit the Texas Permanent School Fund, delivering educational value to local communities. In December of 2025, ExxonMobil permitted three stratigraphic wells: Water Lily - Boliver High Island 1, Water Lily - High Island 1 and Water Lily - Jefferson West 1N
