Houston Ship Channel CCS

Kinder Morgan Energy Transitions Ventures has secured a lease of 10,800 acres from TGS Cedar Port Partners in Baytown, adjacent to the Houston Ship Channel. This underground pore space can store over 300 million metric tons of CO₂, providing a strategically advantaged location for offering carbon sequestration services to nearby industrial emitters. Kinder Morgan emphasized that proximity to major CO₂ sources significantly enhances CCS economics, addressing a common challenge in the industry. Kinder Morgan released the lease in 2025.
