Lost Cabin Sequestration

The Contango CO₂ Pipeline to Big Horn (6-27) project is a carbon management and enhanced gas recovery (EGR) development located within the Madden Deep Unit, Wind River Basin, Wyoming. The project involves construction of a subsurface CO₂ pipeline transporting captured CO₂ from the Lost Cabin Gas Plant to the Bighorn 6-27 injection location, where CO₂ will be reinjected into the Madison reservoir for enhanced gas recovery and long-term geologic storage. The proposed infrastructure includes approximately 3.6 miles of 6-inch carbon steel pipeline crossing Bureau of Land Management (BLM) lands under a 30-year right-of-way authorization. The system is designed to transport and inject up to 80 MMSCFD of CO₂, utilizing gas processing CO₂ that would otherwise be vented. Injection targets the mature Madison Formation reservoir within a highly developed field containing extensive existing well and pipeline infrastructure. The project leverages structural trapping within deep carbonate formations to retain injected CO₂ while improving reservoir performance through pressure maintenance and gas displacement.
