Manistee 23
Core CO2 Services LLC, a subsidiary of Core Energy, is developing a single well Class VI carbon sequestration project in Manistee County, Michigan called Manistee 23, marking the company’s transition from long standing CO2 enhanced oil recovery operations in the Michigan Basin to dedicated geologic carbon storage. The project involves permitting and operating one Class VI injection well to permanently store captured carbon dioxide in deep subsurface formations below underground sources of drinking water. Building on decades of subsurface operating experience in Michigan, Core intends to use this project to establish standalone CO2 storage capacity independent of oil production, supporting regional industrial decarbonization opportunities while utilizing proven geologic reservoirs within the basin.
