Monroe Sequestration North Louisiana

Monroe Sequestration Partners (MSP), a carbon storage development company based in northern Louisiana (and jointly owned with a 50% stake by DevvStream), has signed a strategic collaboration agreement with Southern Energy, a Wyoming-based clean fuel developer. Under this deal, MSP will serve as the carbon sequestration provider for Southern Energy’s planned $1 billion biomass-to-methanol and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) facility in Louisiana. MSP’s Class VI storage site—designed for secure, permanent underground CO₂ storage—is expected to be operational by 2027, while Southern Energy’s low-carbon fuel plant is slated to begin operations in 2028. MSP will leverage tax-incentive mechanisms like the federal 45Q program and voluntary carbon markets to fund and monetize the sequestration operations.
