Ozona CCS
O'Neal Gas Unit
The O’Neal Gas Unit Well No. 4 is an acid gas injection (AGI) carbon storage project operated by Ozona CCS, LLC, associated with StarTex’s Pawnee Treating Facility in Bee County, Texas. The project permanently injects treated acid gas (TAG) streams generated during natural gas processing into deep geologic formations for long-term storage. The facility has applied for a Class II AGI permit authorizing injection of up to approximately 1.5 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscf/d) of TAG. The injected stream is expected to consist primarily of ~98.2% CO₂, with minor hydrocarbons (~1.03%), hydrogen sulfide (~0.4%), and nitrogen (~0.37%). Injection is planned into the Sligo Formation at depths of approximately 15,874 to 16,056 feet. Ozona plans to conduct injection operations for approximately 12 years. The MRV plan submitted under EPA Subpart RR establishes monitoring, reporting, and verification requirements to quantify injected CO₂ volumes and demonstrate permanent geologic containment.
