Enhance Energy
Origins Project
The Origins Project, developed by Enhance Energy in partnership with the Alberta Carbon Grid (ACG), is a large-scale CO₂ storage hub located in Alberta, Canada. The project builds on Enhance’s experience operating the Alberta Carbon Trunk Line (ACTL), one of the world’s largest integrated CO₂ capture, transport, and utilization systems. Origins is designed to provide permanent CO₂ sequestration for a wide range of industrial emitters across Alberta, with injection into deep saline formations in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. The project is expected to handle up to 20 million tonnes of CO₂ per year once fully developed, positioning it as one of the largest CCS hubs in North America. With a total estimated storage capacity of several hundred million tonnes, Origins will play a central role in decarbonizing Alberta’s heavy industry, power generation, and hydrogen production sectors. The project leverages existing ACTL infrastructure to minimize costs and accelerate deployment, with phased development that will expand injection wells and monitoring systems over time.
