Painter Reservoir CCS-1

The Painter Reservoir CCS 1 project was a proposed geologic sequestration initiative by North Shore Energy, LLC, aimed at capturing CO2 from a planned blue ammonia facility in Uinta County, Wyoming. The project intended to inject approximately 0.25 million metric tons of CO2 per year over a 15-year period into the depleted Nugget Sandstone formation, which had historically served as a natural gas reservoir. By leveraging existing infrastructure at the Painter field, the developer sought to create one of the first "blue" ammonia projects in the state, positioning Wyoming as a participant in the global transition toward low-carbon energy sources.
