Reliant CCS
Pine Hills Sequestration Hub
The Pine Hills Sequestration Hub, developed by Reliant, is one of the largest announced carbon storage hubs in the United States. Located in Covington County, Alabama, the project involves 44 Class VI wells across a vast underground pore space easement agreement with Rayonier Inc., covering approximately 104,000 acres of remote timberland. The site is capable of storing more than 30 million metric tons of CO₂ annually, with the potential for future expansion. The Pine Hills Hub is strategically positioned to serve as a major carbon sequestration site for heavy industry in the region. Reliant will manage the development and operation of the hub, while Rayonier continues to own and oversee the surface timberland through its timberland investment trust. The project underscores the integration of large-scale geologic sequestration with sustainable land management, establishing Pine Hills as a cornerstone in efforts to decarbonize the U.S. Southeast.
