Poseidon

The Poseidon CCS project is a collaborative effort between OMV (Norge) AS and Aker BP (operating partner), based on the Poseidon licence (EXL005) awarded in March 2023. The project area lies approximately 100 km off Norway’s coast in the North Sea. In October 2023, the partners successfully completed a 3D seismic survey covering over 500 km², designed to deliver high-resolution imaging of the CO₂ storage complex and establish a baseline for monitoring storage integrity—completed on schedule and within budget. The project roadmap includes this seismic work followed by detailed studies leading up to a drill-or-drop decision by 2025 at the latest.
