Project Carina

Australian Carbon Vault (ACV) was awarded Greenhouse Gas Storage Exploration Licence B (GSEL-B) on 16 March 2026, covering 2,070 km² (~0.5 million acres) in the Otway Basin, South Australia, near Mount Gambier. This project, known as the Otway Basin GSEL-B Hub, represents ACV’s second major storage licence area. ACV is uniquely positioned to lead Asia-Pacific decarbonisation efforts, in one of the few jurisdictions where commercial CO₂ injection can commence today under a clear, enabling framework. The tway Basin GSEL-B SEO and EIR have been developed to meet the requirements of the Greenhouse Gas Storage Act 2009 (SA).
