Sakakemang CCS
Repsol’s CCS project in Indonesia is linked to the development of the large Sakakemang gas field in South Sumatra. The plan is to capture and store around 2 million tonnes of CO₂ per year, with operations targeted to begin by 2027. The project is expected to have a total storage capacity of up to 6 million tonnes through 2040, supporting both emissions reduction and long-term energy security. Developed alongside the Sakakemang gas project, the initiative will coincide with first gas production around 2028, delivering about 80 million cubic feet per day over an estimated eight-year production period. This CCS development is intended to position Indonesia as a regional leader in carbon management while extending the commercial viability of a major gas resource.
