Milestone Carbon
Terrebone Parish Project
In March 2023, Milestone Carbon announced a Letter of Intent to evaluate approximately 46,000 acres in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana, with an eye toward establishing a major carbon capture and storage (CCS) site. The initiative aims to leverage underground geologic formations for the permanent disposal of industrial CO₂ emissions, potentially sequestering hundreds of millions of metric tons. The company plans to assess the viability for multiple EPA Class VI injection wells, which would support decarbonizing industrial operations across southeastern Louisiana, a region that emits over 35 million metric tons of CO₂ annually. This effort aligns local geology, policy support, and industrial demand for deep decarbonization.
