White Energy
Texas Carbon Storage I
The Texas Carbon Storage I project, led by White Energy Carbon Solutions, is designed to capture and permanently sequester CO₂ from White Energy’s ethanol facilities in Plainview and Hereford, Texas. Captured CO₂ will be transported via pipeline to a dedicated injection site where it will be injected into deep saline formations for long-term storage. The project anticipates a multi-year operational period with an average annual injection volume in the range of several million tonnes of CO₂. Operations of both the capture facilities and the storage site will be managed by White Energy or a qualified operator. A site-specific test well has already been drilled within the project’s Area of Review to provide geological, hydrogeological, and geomechanical data. Wireline logs, sidewall cores, and fluid samples have been collected to build detailed static and dynamic earth models, reducing uncertainty in reservoir characterization. The injection well will be drilled to collect additional stratigraphic information and will be constructed to Class VI standards with multiple protective casing strings and corrosion-resistant materials. The primary storage formation, a deep sandstone unit at sufficient depth and temperature to keep CO₂ in a supercritical state, is overlain by laterally extensive carbonate and evaporite confining zones that provide containment security. Modeling indicates the formation has ample porosity and permeability to support safe injection and long-term CO₂ storage.
