Wildcat AGI
The Wildcat Gas Plant carbon storage project is an acid gas injection (AGI) sequestration operation operated by Targa Delaware LLC associated with the Wildcat gas processing facility. The project permanently injects treated acid gas (TAG) generated during natural gas processing into deep geologic formations for long-term storage. Targa is currently authorized to inject up to 28 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of TAG through the approved WC AGI #1 well. Targa also received approval in 2023 to drill, complete, and operate WC AGI #2, which is permitted to inject up to 15 MMSCFD of TAG at an approximate total depth of 21,450 feet within the Lower Devonian Thirtyone through Ordovician Ellenburger formations. Targa intends to continue injecting CO₂ through WC AGI #1 for approximately 30 years. The MRV plan submitted under EPA Subpart RR establishes monitoring, reporting, and verification protocols to quantify injected CO₂ volumes and demonstrate permanent geologic containment.
