Carbon GeoCapture
Wyoming CarbonSAFE Project Phase III
Carbon GeoCapture Corp was awarded a $7.2 million subcontract under the $19.3 million US DOE NETL CarbonSAFE Phase III award to manage field activities evaluating deep subsurface geology near Gillette Wyoming for long term permanent CO₂ storage. As part of the characterization program the project drilled three stratigraphic test wells to evaluate reservoir quality sealing formations and overall storage suitability. This work supports detailed geologic modeling injectivity assessment and verification of storage capacity needed for commercial scale development. The broader Wyoming CarbonSAFE Phase III project led by the University of Wyoming School of Energy Resources is focused on completing full site characterization securing Class VI injection permitting advancing NEPA environmental reviews and integrating CO₂ capture and transport planning. The project targets development of a storage complex capable of handling up to 50 million metric tons of CO₂ over a 30 year operating period and is intended to position the site for Phase IV construction and commercial deployment of large scale carbon sequestration infrastructure.
