Liquid Wind
Örnsköldsvik
Feb. 2025: Liquid Wind takes full ownership of e-Methanol project from Orested. The eFuel facility in Örnsköldsvik will be connected to the municipal energy company Övik Energi AB’s biofuel-powered Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant, which uses renewable biogenic fuels to produce electricity and steam for industrial use and heat for homes and buildings in Örnsköldsvik. The facility will produce eMethanol with green hydrogen, generated on-site through electrolysis, using renewable electricity to split water into hydrogen and oxygen. Biogenic CO₂ will be sourced from the CHP plant, which will also provide steam and water for the eMethanol production process. To maximise efficiency, excess heat will be fed back into Örnsköldsvik’s district heating network. Once operational, the facility will produce 100,000 tonnes of eFuel per year, contributing to the decarbonisation of transport and industry while reinforcing Örnsköldsvik’s position as a leader in the green energy transition.
