Alexandria CCS

At POET’s Alexandria ethanol facility in Indiana, POET is developing a carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) project in partnership with Vault 44.01, centered on the Aster Class VI geologic storage project. The initiative is designed to capture biogenic CO₂ from ethanol fermentation and route it to a dedicated Class VI permitted injection well for permanent underground sequestration, significantly lowering the carbon intensity of ethanol production at the site. Vault 44.01 is leading development of the CO₂ transportation and geologic storage infrastructure, including permitting and operation of the Aster Class VI sequestration asset. The project integrates on-site capture with purpose-built midstream and storage systems, positioning the Alexandria facility as part of POET’s broader strategy to deploy CCS across its ethanol network and support participation in low-carbon fuels markets and long-term industrial decarbonization.
