Blue Point Project
The Blue Point Project is a $4 billion joint venture between CF Industries (40%), JERA (35%), and Mitsui (25%) to build the world’s largest low-carbon ammonia plant at CF’s Blue Point Complex in Ascension Parish, Louisiana. Designed to produce 1.4 million metric tons of ammonia annually, the facility will capture over 95% of its CO₂ emissions (~2.3 million tons per year) for permanent storage at 1PointFive’s Pelican Sequestration Hub. CF will operate the plant and invest an additional $550 million in supporting infrastructure, while offtake will be split by ownership shares. With engineering underway in 2025, construction is set to begin in 2026 and first deliveries of low-carbon ammonia are expected in 2029.
