Tarmac
Buxton Net Zero
Tarmac is apart of the Peak Cluster project. The Peak Cluster is a UK-based carbon capture and storage (CCS) initiative aiming to decarbonize hard-to-abate industries in the Peak District, including cement and lime production. CO₂ captured from industrial emitters will be transported by pipeline or rail to the Morecambe Net Zero (MNZ) hub, where it will be permanently stored in repurposed offshore gas fields. The project plans to start with around 4 million tonnes of CO₂ stored annually, scaling up to 25 million tonnes per year
