IBEC CCS

Harvestone Low Carbon Partners is advancing a carbon capture project at its IBEC ethanol facility in Rensselaer, Indiana that would capture the biogenic CO₂ produced during ethanol fermentation and prepare it for permanent underground storage. The 60 million gallon-per-year plant generates roughly 180,000 tons of CO₂ annually, and Harvestone has submitted a Class VI injection permit application to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency following subsurface feasibility testing to support future onsite sequestration. The IBEC capture initiative is part of Harvestone’s broader Vision Carbon Zero strategy to deploy integrated carbon capture and sequestration infrastructure across its ethanol portfolio and reduce lifecycle emissions from biofuel production.
