Keadby 3 Carbon Capture Power Station
The Keadby 3 Carbon Capture Project is a planned CCS retrofit at the Keadby 3 gas-fired power station in North Lincolnshire, UK, developed by SSE Thermal with support from industry partners to integrate carbon capture technology into a new combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) facility. The project will install a post-combustion CO₂ capture system capable of removing up to 95 percent of the plant’s emissions, capturing approximately 2 million tonnes of CO₂ per year. Captured CO₂ will be conditioned, compressed, and connected to the developing UK carbon transport and storage network for permanent geological sequestration beneath the North Sea. Development activities include regulatory permitting, capture technology selection, and connection planning to offshore storage infrastructure such as the Viking CCS and Northern Endurance Partnership clusters.
