Valero
Linden Bioethanol CCS
At Valero’s Linden ethanol facility in Indiana, Valero is advancing a carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) project in collaboration with Vault 44.01, centered on the Linden Class VI geologic storage project. The initiative will capture biogenic CO₂ from ethanol fermentation processes at the plant and transport it to a dedicated Class VI injection well for permanent underground sequestration, significantly reducing lifecycle emissions and lowering the carbon intensity of ethanol production at the Linden site. Vault 44.01 is leading development of the CO₂ transportation and storage infrastructure, including permitting, construction, and long-term operation of the Linden sequestration asset. The project integrates on-site capture with purpose-built midstream and storage systems, positioning the Valero Linden facility as part of a growing Midwest ethanol CCS network and supporting participation in emerging low-carbon fuels markets.
