MAAPW Madrid Carbon Capture Project

Mid America Agri Products Wheatland (MAAPW) launched its carbon capture and sequestration program in 2022, becoming one of the early ethanol producers in Nebraska to adopt CCS technology. By 2025, MAAPW is expected to be among fewer than 10 percent of U.S. ethanol plants equipped with carbon capture systems, significantly lowering the lifecycle carbon intensity of its ethanol production and setting new regional sustainability benchmarks. Captured biogenic CO₂ from fermentation is transported via Tallgrass Energy’s repurposed 392 mile Trailblazer CO₂ pipeline, which is being converted from a natural gas pipeline into a dedicated carbon transport corridor serving ethanol plants across the Midwest. The MAAPW project is positioned as a cornerstone deployment for Nebraska’s ethanol decarbonization strategy, enabling long term C
