Midwest Renewable Energy Carbon Capture

The Midwest Renewable Energy carbon capture project is a CCS initiative at Midwest Renewable Energy’s ethanol facility in Sutherland, Nebraska, developed through Frontier Infrastructure’s carbon management platform in partnership with Gevo and Verity. The project captures high-purity fermentation CO₂ from ethanol production and transports it by rail to Frontier’s Sweetwater Carbon Storage Hub in Wyoming for permanent geological storage. The initial system is designed to handle approximately 500,000 tonnes of CO₂ per year.
