Project Tembo
November 2025)???? Write a concise project descriptiion Project Tembo (formerly Cheyenne AI Factory / Project Jade) is a 2.7 GW behind-the-meter power generation and carbon capture project supporting Google's data center campus at the Switchgrass Industrial Park in Cheyenne, Wyoming, developed by Tallgrass Energy (through subsidiary BFC Power LLC) with Google as the underlying customer via Jupiter Star Holdings LLC. Phase 1 will deploy 900 MW of Bloom Energy solid-oxide fuel cells (SOFC) under a $2.65 billion definitive equipment agreement announced January 8, 2026, with a 20-year power offtake by American Electric Power (AEP) and initial operation planned for late 2026, expandable to 2.7 GW by 2031 and scalable to 10 GW. The SOFC exhaust stream contains CO₂ at concentrations approximately 12 times higher than combustion flue gas, making capture on Bloom fuel cells substantially more economical than capture from conventional gas-fired generation and enabling the site to be designed as a paired capture and sequestration project from inception. Captured CO₂ will be transported via Tallgrass's Trailblazer CO₂ pipeline to Tallgrass's Eastern Wyoming Sequestration Hub for permanent underground storage. The fuel cells are also designed as hydrogen-ready to allow future conversion from natural gas to hydrogen or hydrogen blends without hardware replacement.
