StarTex Pawnee Treating CCS

StarTex Field Services is operating a carbon capture and sequestration system at its Pawnee Treating Facility near Pawnee, Texas to permanently store CO₂ separated during natural gas processing. The facility captures a high-purity CO₂ stream from its amine treatment process, dehydrates and compresses the gas, and delivers it via dedicated infrastructure to the O’Neal Gas Unit No. 4 injection well, operated by Ozona CCS, for deep geologic storage in the Sligo Formation. The Pawnee project is designed to inject up to 1.5 million standard cubic feet of CO₂ per day, equivalent to approximately 27,500 tonnes per year, into subsurface formations at depths exceeding 15,800 feet. The system integrates continuous capture with long-term injection operations and is planned for an operational life of approximately 12 years, enabling permanent disposal of CO₂ generated from gas treating operations while maintaining uninterrupted processing throughput at the Pawnee facility.
