The Brown 4 Carbon Sequestration Project is located in Manistee County, Michigan, within the Northern Niagaran Pinnacle Reef Trend (NNPRT). Developed by Lambda Energy Resources, the initiative proposes to convert existing oil-and-gas reef infrastructure into a permanent CO₂ storage facility capable of sequestering 160 million metric tons of CO₂ from regional carbon-intensive operations. A Class VI permit application has been submitted to the EPA, marking the project’s transition into the formal permitting stage. The design centers on leveraging subsurface reefs repurposed for deep injection, though detailed geology, timeline, and emitter sources remain pending further documentation.
