Gundih

The Gundih carbon storage project in Central Java, Indonesia, is the country’s first full-scale carbon capture and storage initiative. It is designed to capture CO₂ from the Gundih gas processing facility, where natural gas contains high concentrations of CO₂, and transport it for injection into deep saline aquifers. The project is led by Pertamina in partnership with international collaborators and has been developed with strong government and research support. Its aim is to demonstrate CCS feasibility in Indonesia, reduce emissions from natural gas production, and build technical and regulatory capacity for future CCS developments across the region.
