Jasper County Storage Facility
The Jasper County Storage Facility, proposed by BP Carbon Solutions, is a Class VI CO₂ sequestration project in southeast Texas. The project will inject captured CO₂ into the Frio Formation, a thick Oligocene sandstone with favorable porosity and permeability, while the Anahuac Shale provides the primary confining zone. Additional regional seals, including Miocene and Pleistocene units, enhance containment. Site characterization was supported by the A469 #1 appraisal well, which provided stratigraphic data, reservoir properties, and core samples for geomechanical and geochemical testing to confirm injectivity and containment integrity.
