Denbury
Orion
Denbury, in partnership with Natural Resource Partners (NRP), planned to develop a large-scale CO₂ sequestration hub spanning approximately 75,000 acres near Mobile, Alabama. The site was projected to have a storage capacity exceeding 300 million metric tonnes of CO₂, positioning it as a major anchor for regional carbon storage infrastructure. Denbury intended to extend its existing Gulf Coast CO₂ pipeline network from Mississippi to connect to this new hub, leveraging its robust CO₂ transport and enhanced oil recovery experience. The company anticipated that the project could be operational by 2026. In 2024 Denbury withdrew its Class VI permit application following its acquisition by ExxonMobil.
